Veterans Day Weekend Projects!

House of Heroes Connecticut Teams with Johnson Brunetti for Second Straight Year to Provide No-Cost Home Repairs for Wethersfield Vietnam Veteran

House of Heroes Connecticut and Johnson Brunetti partnered for the second consecutive year on Saturday, November 7, providing no-cost home repairs to a Vietnam veteran in need in the community where Johnson Brunetti’s corporate offices are located.

About a dozen Johnson Brunetti employees and clients joined with House of Heroes to assist 75-year-old Daniel Civiello of Wethersfield. Work included deck and railing repair and staining, fence repairs, yardwork and a variety of additional small projects to make Daniel’s home safer and more accessible. The project was covered by local news stations WFSB Eyewitness News, NBC Connecticut and WTNH News 8.

Civiello is a Hartford native who graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1963. He began his U.S. Army service in 1966 and spent 357 days as a field mechanic in Vietnam, where he was in close proximity to combat. He served, he says, “for God and country,” and is thankful to have made it back home safely.

The project was House of Heroes’ Connecticut’s 137th since the organization’s founding in 2012.

“We were so excited to recognize and honor Daniel’s service to our nation to kick off Veterans Day week,” said House of Heroes Executive Director Dennis Buden. “Several areas of concern at Daniel’s home were addressed, and we couldn't have done any of it without the support of our great Project Partner Johnson Brunetti.”
