Wrapping up our outside season of service with incredible partners and a deserving veteran!

This past weekend, we concluded our outside season of projects, made possible by the generosity and dedication of our amazing sponsors. With the support of Contractors Direct, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin, and students from the Community Engagement Leadership class at Quinnipiac University, we had the honor of helping SP4 Frank, a Vietnam War veteran from North Haven. Frank was drafted in 1965 and served with an artillery division in Vietnam. He was wounded by a mortar and, while recovering, was awarded a Purple Heart by a Division General with none other than John Wayne by his side.

With the support of our sponsors, we were able to make his home safer and more comfortable by:
- Cleaning up a large overgrown yard
- Installing railings on both the front and back steps
- Addressing plumbing corrections
- Staining a side deck
A huge THANK YOU to Contractors Direct and Sikorsky for their invaluable work, and to the students from Quinnipiac University for their hands-on effort in making this all possible.It was a truly special way to close out the outside season, ensuring that a courageous and deserving veteran like Frank can safely remain in his own home. 💙

Veteran’s Day weekend is one of the best times to honor the brave men and women who have sacrificially served our country. This year, HOHCT had the privilege of honoring SP4 Catherine in Shelton on Saturday. With the ongoing support of **Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company**, we were able to make significant improvements to her home, including completing electrical work, rebuilding her bulkhead basement door, repainting her crumbling front porch, and cleaning up her yard.
In collaboration with **Quinnipiac University’s Community Engagement class**, students interviewed SP4 Catherine, wrote her story, presented her with a legacy gift, and worked tirelessly alongside Lockheed Martin employees to make her home safer and more accessible. HOHCT is proud to honor this Army Signal Intelligence Voice Interceptor for her dedicated service to our country.

A huge thank you to the incredible students at Racebrook Elementary School in Orange for hosting a heartfelt Veterans Day ceremony today! The ceremony was a beautiful tribute, with singing, writings, artwork, and a slideshow honoring veterans. It was truly special to see so many veteran parents and grandparents in attendance.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Racebrook Elementary’s efforts to raise money for **HOHCT** . We are so grateful for their ongoing support and dedication to our veterans. What a wonderful way to kick off Veteran’s Day Week! Today, we had the privilege of helping a deserving veteran in Winsted, CT.

A huge shoutout to the incredible students from Northwestern Regional High School, District No. 7, who dedicated their day to assist 85-year-old Leon. This Navy veteran, who specialized in aircraft maintenance during his service across the North Atlantic and Mediterranean, needed some help with his yard, outside steps, and railings.

The students raked, painted, mulched, and transformed a yard that needed a lot of care. Leon, a proud veteran, shared that he would serve again if he had the chance!

A heartfelt thank you to the students, John’s Import Deli in Winsted, and David Webb Property Services for their generous donations today. It truly was an incredible day filled with community spirit! 🇺🇸💙
