House of Heroes Connecticut is seeking approval to subdivide its Hamden property and construct a new commercial building to support its expanding home repair program for veterans.
The nonprofit has filed an inland wetlands application with the town for the project at 555 Sherman Ave. The proposal would divide the existing 8.66-acre parcel to create a new building lot and construct a 3,080-square-foot warehouse with parking, utilities, landscaping and stormwater improvements.
Site plans prepared by Godfrey Hoffman Hodge LLC show the building fronting Old Hill Road with a surface parking lot, landscaped areas and a new driveway.
The building will be used exclusively by House of Heroes Connecticut to store construction materials, tools and donated supplies used in its no-cost home repair projects for military veterans and public safety veterans.
