Southington Supermarket to Sponsor HOHCT Project in 2022 with Proceeds; Upwards of 75,000 Attendees Expected at Two-Day Event.

Popular Plantsville supermarket Tops Marketplace has joined the House of Heroes Connecticut Project Partner team, planning to staff a House of Heroes Connecticut food booth at this weekend’s huge Meriden Daffodil Festival with proceeds going toward the market’s sponsorship of a House of Heroes project later this year.

The 42nd Meriden Daffodil Festival takes place Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., at Meriden’s Hubbard Park. One of the region’s largest annual events, the festival is retuning in 2022 after two years off due to COVID-19. Upwards of 75,000 attendees have enjoyed past festivals. The event will include a large food tent, activities, entertainment, carnival rides and parade. “Partnering with House of Heroes is a new and exciting adventure and we are so happy to support such a great local cause assisting those who served,” said John Salerno, Owner of Tops Marketplace. “This project is one of the many ways Tops supports and shows its gratitude for our community, and we hope to raise lots of dollars to help local veterans.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Tops Marketplace and are anticipating a big weekend of food, fun and fundraising,” said Carol May, Executive Director of House of Heroes Connecticut. “We invite all friends of veterans and House of Heroes to stop by, enjoy Tops Marketplace’s great food, and support the cause.” Tops will manage the preparation and sale all weekend long of pork sliders and swordfish tacos at the House of Heroes Connecticut booth, while House of Heroes board members and volunteers will staff an adjoining information table about the organization and the services it provides.

Founded in Plantsville in 1951 by the Topshe family and owned since 1980 by John Salerno, Tops Marketplace offers the very best in service and quality. A proud family-owned market, Tops prides itself on being a small-town store with big-city ideas, offering big supermarket savings without feeling like a number.
