Haven Beer Company, House of Heroes Connecticut Partner toSupport Veterans with Haven for Heroes Memorial Day Events

Series of Fundraising Events Kicks Off with Inaugural Haven Beer Company Charity Golf Outing May 20; Memorial Day Weekend Specials Will Honor Service, Sacrifice

Hamden’s newest brewery and restaurant, Haven Beer Company, is partnering

with Hamden-based veterans service organization House of Heroes Connecticut (HOHCT) for a special

Memorial Day Week series of fundraising events and specials designed to honor service, sacrifice and to raise funds to assist military and public safety veterans in need.

It all begins next Monday, May 20, with the Inaugural Haven Beer Company Charity Golf Tournament at

Laurel View Country Club (“The Vue”), an unforgettable day of swinging clubs, sipping brews, raising

funds and making memories. Registration is open for the rapidly-filling event, which kicks off with a 9

a.m. shotgun start and will feature a post-golf dinner and open bar from 3-6 p.m.

Online registration and sponsorships are available at www.havenbeerco.com.

All net proceeds from the event will benefit House of Heroes Connecticut. Following the golf event, the Haven for Heroes Memorial Day Weekend Promotion kicks into high gear. All week long, from May 20 through the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 27, service flags from all the U.S. military branches will be on display at the brewery/restaurant. The foyer will feature a reverent display of The Missing Man Table, sometimes referred to as “The Fallen Comrade Table,” meant to remind visitors of fallen, missing or imprisoned members of the U.S. military.

Beginning Friday evening, May 24, and continuing through the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, Haven Beer Company will offer a special Hero Burger menu item and a special batch Hero Brew, with a portion of food and beer sales benefitting House of Heroes Connecticut. In addition, active-duty members of the military and law enforcement community, and veterans with valid ID, will receive a discount off their tabs.

Patrons throughout the weekend will receive a commemorative House of Heroes Connecticut

bookmark with their checks, and children will receive a mini-American flag. In addition, branded Haven for Heroes merchandise, including a pint glass and t-shirt designed especially for the weekend promotion, will be on sale. Purchasers of Haven Beer Company gift cards valued at $50, $100 and $200 will receive a bonus add-on value tacked onto their cards along with free merchandise

with every card purchased.

On Monday, Memorial Day, Haven Beer Company and House of Heroes Connecticut invite the entire

Greater Hamden community to visit the brewery/restaurant and support the cause following the Town

of Hamden Memorial Day Parade. Members of the Hamden Fire Department Honor Guard will present

the colors and be joined by the Connecticut Firefighters Pipes & Drums. A Moment of Silence for the fallen will be observed and guests will be invited to take part in the Pledge of Allegiance, prior to a

ceremonial check presentation from Haven Beer Company to House of Heroes Connecticut.

Haven Beer Company, which opened in February in the space formerly occupied by Mickey’s, is

Connecticut’s newest brewery and restaurant. The sprawling, stylishly appointed brewery features a

taproom, kitchen, main dining area, outdoor beer garden and a private space called “The Penalty Box”

for watching sports. The brewery crafts its own brews in-house, and offers guests beers, a full bar with

craft cocktails, wine and a menu of great food made in-house. Haven Beer Company is open Monday

through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. – 12 midnight and Sunday 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
