100th House Weekend in Hamden
May 26th was a huge milestone for HOHCT as we completed our 99-100-101st veteran home. We were so proud to honor GT William Gargano. He enlisted in 1942 to the U.S. Army Air Corps. Bill became a top turret aerial gunner with the decorated 96th Bomb Group 8th Air Force, flying missions over Europe. Bill remembers with great reverence the day his disabled B-17 had to fly out of formation to save the life of the crew’s injured belly gunner. A highly decorated veteran, Bill was pleased to share his story with the 40 plus volunteers that helped him make improvements on his home. See more photos in our gallery.
