Memorial Day Weekend

Celebrating our 5th anniversary of the CT. Chapter of House of Heroes, more than 50 volunteers gave up their Memorial Day Saturday to help a WWII Veteran in Guilford and a former Milford Police Officer. Our Guilford Veteran is part of a family who has served our nation continuously since the 1700's. His home was in need of a ramp and a few other repairs that will help keep him stay safe and in his home for years to come. Our police officer, a 32-year-old former Milford police officer and newly appointed U.S. State Department diplomatic security agent who was suddenly paralyzed from the waist down one year ago due to a rare, aggressive form of multiple sclerosis was helped by over 40 volunteers. It was truly a remarkable day and one filled with great generosity and give-backs. In addition to volunteer officers from the Milford, Hamden, Seymour and Hartford Police Departments, a partial listing of volunteers and contractors donating services Saturday in North Haven and Guilford include Biltmore Construction, Hamden; F.J. Miller Construction Company, Hamden; the Central Connecticut State University Dance Team, New Britain; Robert Clarke, LLC, Bridgeport; David Cote, LLC, Bethany; HQ Dumpsters, Southington and West Rock Materials, Woodbridge. A special thank you to K&J Tree Service in Hamden who took out 3 large trees in North Haven and to HB Communications who helped us set up a live feed with our Police officer in India. Both companies were nothing short of timely, generous and professional. HOHCT is so grateful. Major corporate sponsors of House of Heroes Connecticut include Stanley Tools, Guaranteed Rate and PCX Aerostructures.
