HOHCT Readies First-Ever Business Office

The COVID-19 pandemic may have temporarily slowed House of Heroes Connecticut’s 2020 project season, but we’ve been using the downtime as a welcome opportunity to move the organization forward and plan for future growth. Our first-ever business office, a dream of HOHCT co-founders Bill May and Steve Cavanaugh since they founded the chapter in 2012, is nearing completion, and this watershed moment in House of Heroes Connecticut's history is a sign that the future is bright for our plans to serve ever-more veterans for years to come.

For the past eight months, HOHCT Co-Founder and President Steve Cavanaugh, owner of Biltmore Construction of Hamden, and his crew of volunteers have been working overtime preparing our first-ever business office space in a renovated 1800’s-era train passenger depot located at 3342 Whitney Avenue in Hamden. The space will provide HOHCT with much-needed central administrative space to conduct business, hold board meetings, manage the organization and better serve veterans in need.

“This space is a dream come true,” said HOHCT Chairman Carol May, widow of the late Bill May who co-founded the Connecticut chapter with Steve Cavanaugh in 2012. “I can’t thank Steve enough for his hard work in helping to make this happen, and I know that Bill is smiling upon us, proud of the progress we’ve made and the bright future we have in store.”

The new space was made possible thanks to a new partnership with building owner Mike Farber, owner of Mikro Depot Restaurant next door, and House of Heroes Connecticut wishes to thank Mike for his generosity and commitment to our cause. Many hands helped bring the new space alive, and HOHCT plans to thank all those who played a part at a Grand Opening Celebration on a future date to be determined. Stay tuned for more!

Please make note that with our new space now functional, House of Heroes Connecticut’s physical mailing address has changed.

Our new address is:
