STANLEY Build Your America #2

Lillington, NC

Iraq/Afghanistan Vet Receives Home Repairs Thanks to House of Heroes and STANLEY Tools

U.S. Army Vet Tarah Siekert is the second STANLEY Build Your America Beneficiary; Army Aviation Soldiers from Iron Mike Chapter, Fort Bragg were there to assist. It is precisely Siekert’s selfless nature and ability to tackle head on what life offers – the good and the bad – that inspired her husband Zach to nominate his wife last year to be honored through the STANLEY Tools/House of Heroes “Build Your America” national service program. A team of volunteers descended upon the Siekerts’ home in Lillington, NC and provided desperately needed home repairs and improvements – but just as importantly, to honor Tarah for her service. "My wife Tarah is an Army veteran who served for six and one-half years. She has tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. She is a mother to our daughter and she is beyond amazing,” wrote Zach in nominating Tarah for the contest. “Our daughter Ashlynn is special needs so my wife is with her all day, 24/7. The Siekert project included a new shower and plumbing in the master bath; drywall repairs; new kitchen countertops; exterior power washing; deck staining; and major yard cleanup and lawn repair. About a dozen volunteers from the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) Iron Mike Chapter, Fort Bragg – including local active duty soldiers assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade and other Aviation units stationed at Fort Bragg were also be on the job. “STANLEY is proud to partner with House of Heroes in recognizing, honoring, and serving America's veterans,” said Tim Perra, Vice President, Communications, Stanley Black & Decker. At Stanley they look forward to finishing the next three projects in Texas, Louisiana and Ohio. Together with House of Heroes we are truly "Building America".
