World War II and Vietnam vets bring HOHCT tally to 175 veterans served in Connecticut

For the last 10 years, House of Heroes Connecticut has honored the state’s military and public safety veterans by repairing and improving their homes. On Saturday, the organization reached a new milestone — 175 veterans served.

HOH honored its 174th and 175th veterans, 93-year-old World War II veteran Richard Glidden of Berlin and Vietnam War veteran Peter Johnson of Plainville, with flag-raising ceremonies.

Nearly 50 volunteers, including members of Sikorsky, Tops Marketplace, the Berlin Lions Club, the Kensington-Berlin Rotary and the Plainville High School Blue Devils football team, made the Saturday repairs on the two veterans’ homes possible. Carol May, the executive director of the HOH Connecticut, said that in 2023, the chapter plans to serve their 200th veteran.
